Self Love Circle for Domestic Violence Survivors
A Creative & Reflective Workshop for Survivors
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 18 at 11AM-1PM MT
The intention behind this self love circle comes from our reflection that most resources that exist for survivors are when we are actively in crisis. However, what about afterwards? Where are the spaces that keep us grounded in our wellness and allow for community building without solely bonding over trauma? This is a space for survivors, but where that's not your only label. This is a space for you holistically, where you get to explore your creativity as the main intention.
This is the space for you if you:
want to explore self-love not as a buzzword, but as a felt sensation in your body
see self-love not just as an individual action,
crave active engagement and being in an active community within the 2-hour container
are open to experiencing somatics based on centering and grounding
feel called to creative and generative writing, want to practice this more (perhaps it is one of your intentions for this year), and want to actively participate, be present, and experience vulnerability
are not actively in crisis (there will not be an advocate on call during this session)
This is not the space if you:
want to gain constructive criticism from current writing projects
are not willing to hold space for other people's writings, would like to passively show up, and prefer 1:1 work
are not ready or open to experiencing somatics (which is totally valid <3)
While this circle is for DV survivors and/or those who have witnessed DV, the focus of this event is not on processing these events (especially because this is a creative writing circle and not a therapy-oriented event, even though creative self-expression does have similar therapeutic impacts). Rather, this circle’s theme is: self-love.
